How It Works
Why ‘Horse Listener’?/how it works:
So why do I call myself a ‘Horse Listener?’
Because Intuition is just that: a kind of listening..
I listen, I tune in: I access information which is given at all kinds of levels. It is a kind of language to which I listen..
Information can come from the cellular memory of that animal, in a very detailed way, it might reveal a past trauma or injury trapped in the cells- the body remembers physical, mental or emotional trauma.
Over the years, there have been those who have referred to me as a Horse Whisperer, and I do not have a problem with this; However there are those who call themselves Whisperers, whereas they are, in fact, gifted trainers, not healers. This confuses things.
It is for this reason that I have decided, for the sake of accuracy, to call myself a ‘Horse Listener’, that is: one who ‘Listens’, or tunes in, to horses. It could be said, if one is looking for a definition of this capitalised version of the word: ‘Listening is the active inner process of a faculty called Intuition’
Just there, at the withers, the root of the neck,
Horses have wings… Starting out, without a thought, I found my hands just going there; It felt so right, I just did it. I felt, then saw, then knew, That the wings are the key, The door to it all for me.Today I can sense that flow, feel that energy:
It is the health of the horse, its life and its strength,
It is something I just know….
In the wings,
There is colour, shape and size,
There is Energy, the state of things.
In the wings,
There is Information, Content,
Memory and Event.
So I go with this information: Here, at the place of the wings, is a special place, a place where energy flows in and flows out. I can feel it in my hands; sometimes I can see it inwardly; as colours, shapes, forms, and a sense of wellness or lack of it. I find that when a horse lacks energy, these wings will droop, lose colour and vibrancy, and go grey. When that horse is healthy and happy, however, its wings will stretch to support it, be strong, and show colour and vitality.
Pegasus, the winged horse, is now no longer a myth for me, This is real! I can feel and see those wings! They are the life-energy of the horse, Made manifest!
These days I find that those wings to be very individual, much as faces are to us. As part of the Healing process, I visualize them as being strong, carrying that horse, giving it flight, lightness and agility. And I find that horse immediately begin to respond, to become light and powerful, to become, once more what it always was, a horse, whole and complete…… On the other hand, when I first place my hand there, at the onset, I feel whether the ‘energy’ of that horse is flowing, as it should. This will include the emotional state, the mental state and the physical state.
I am merely a conduit for Healing to take place. I am, I believe, a facilitator.
A crude, but effective analogy would be that I am the jump-leads, not the battery that starts the engine.
Energy flows through me, within that horse the energy then responds, aligns itself,
Corrects itself according to ancient and immutable laws of creation, Restores Wholeness, Love.
These laws are beyond my conscious understanding…
I can’t explain how it works; only that it does!
Obviously, I make no specific attempts to diagnose or treat horses, Actual illness and the diagnosis of conditions is the domain of the medically trained veterinary. Let me be really clear on this: I am not a diagnostician, nor am I a medical practitioner. In some ways this is about people as much as it is about horses. What applies to one may well apply to another, yet horses are to be respected as a separate species with unique needs, unique awareness.
For me it’s about proceeding with kindness and patience, Never attempting too much, never forcing the release of pain and trauma; Always respecting the personal space of that suffering being. I might spend only a few minutes with a horse the first time round, Just allowing it to get to know me, Allowing it to feel safe…
Without the feeling of safety, it is difficult, if not impossible to help. Conversely, feeling safe will encourage a horse to share these buried traumas, these painful memories.
To release the pain holding it back from a full and joyful life.
