It was the 23rd February 1996. I remember it being a cold winter’s day.

I was a bit nervous as I laid hands on the mare. Suddenly, I could feel a surge of energy running through the horse, through my hands: It was as if my hands had become a conduit, a channel for energy. A kind of electrical ‘flow-system’. Oddly enough, the mare was not disturbed by it; in fact, she soon relaxed altogether, her neck drooping, along with mouth and lips. With her eyes closed, she seemed to be asleep.

With this first session on a horse, I was aware only that something instinctive and powerful was helping Lizzie, and I was glad to be a part of it! I saw her again a week later, she was already a lot better. The lameness was gone, she had come back to herself…I treated Lizzie twice more, around a month later each time. It was interesting to see that there were moments when she went through a kind of ‘healing crisis’ after a session, things seemed worse with her for a day or two.

But then a day came when she did not need any more help…She was healed! This was great! I loved being around horses; it seemed so natural to me, as if I had always done it, as if I was born to do it… After that day with Lizzie, my phone just kept ringing.

And so the word spread.

And so it was that I was launched into the world of Horse Listening, as I later came to know it. Of course, the animals themselves have taught me a lot, and I have added tools to assist the process, things I have learned and studied over the years from master healers. I begin gradually to ‘see’ things more clearly as time goes on, always trusting the information, always knowing that this is a partnership, between the horse and myself.

In all humility, I do not know, when I begin work, what will happen next, or in what way information will come to me. Sometimes I see and feel things, sometimes not. Sometimes I lay my hands on a horse and step away, allowing Spirit to work through me. I ask Spirit to help me, to work through me, to allow healing to take place through me. I know that in this way the circle is complete, And in Truth, that we are One.
